Last week I met with a contact from the Frontline Health Advocates. Many people had questions about obtaining a medical exemption. I have to be somewhat careful about what I post on a public platform, and I cannot give too many specifics due to every situation being different. However I will address some of the top questions here.
Q) Who do these exemptions cover?
A) They can cover children going into school, sports, daycare programs, etc. They can cover students attending a college, nursing school, or going through an internship. They are for people in the military who are traveling overseas, or those who are being pressured to receive the covid vaccine here in the U.S. They are for employees who are at risk of losing their job due to vaccine mandates. This is not an exhaustive list, these exemptions are written on a case-by-case basis, so if you don’t fall into one of the categories listed above, please reach out anyway.
Q) How do they work?
A) They are based on federal ADA law. Frontline Health Advocates are equipped with doctors and attorneys who know the risk of vaccination and know the law. Every exemption waiver comes with a letter that lists the federal laws that must be abided by. If the exemption is not accepted, it lays the groundwork for more legal action to be taken. This is something they will help you plan for if you are in a state that is difficult to deal with.
Q) What is the process?
A) You can go to the website and watch the video. From there, you can sign up for a 15 minute consultation where a representative will gather some basic information from you. She will then schedule additional time for you to meet with a telehealth doctor. The doctor assigned to you will make another appointment to go over health, medical, and family history. An exemption will be prepared based on that information.
Q) What about states like California and New York, are they accepting these exemptions?
A) There are several states where medical exemptions are normally very difficult to obtain. There is a significant number of exemptions that ARE sticking in these states. However, there is always the risk that they will not be accepted. If that is the case, you STILL have the right to pursue further legal action. Don’t forget that there is solid federal law backing these up, and it’s your right to use them.
Q) How long does it take for the whole process?
A) This is based on the situation. It can take a couple of days to a couple of weeks. It depends on your circumstances, if it is an emergency, and how busy the Frontline Health Advocates are. We are headed into school season right now, so they are exceptionally busy. However, they will still do the best they can to work quick and efficiently on your exemption.
Q) Is there a cost?
A) Yes, there is a cost for exemptions. It’s suggested you watch the video on the website, which will explain this and give you more information. Every situation is different. However, the goal is always to get you what you need to protect your rights.
